The newbuild prices below reflect typical ships built overseas at market prices. The year 2004 has witnessed a time when modern tonnage (under 5 years old) is comparable in price to newbuild tonnage with current or future delivery. Underlying data is from a variety of published sources, namely CW Kellock & Co. and Colton and Company. US built vessels are so few, that they have been cost adjusted to 2004 dollars using inflation indices from Oregon State University. Order of charts and regression formulas:
